A few words about me
I always had an interest in physical fitness, so after earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees back east at Appalachian State University in North Carolina, I started teaching group fitness classes at a few local gyms.
What I didn’t realize was how much I would fall in love with empowering people to work toward becoming their best selves.
After three years honing my expertise as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, I chose to impact even more lives by opening Phoenix Fitness to focus on working with Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) clients. I have a special passion for helping people experiencing WLS sustain the weight loss they achieve while also building strength, endurance, and incorporating healthy dietary habits that will help them overcome the challenges unique to people who’ve undergone this procedure.
The phoenix is a proverbial bird known for rising triumphantly out of the ashes of death. What was old and lifeless is reborn in a powerful new form.
The choice to name my fitness center after this majestic image was intentional. In helping WLS patients integrate fitness and nutrition into their new lives, they are able to become like that phoenix, rising up anew and ready to take flight.
Through our suite of diagnostic tools and personal and group training programs, we have the capacity to help you identify your biggest challenges and then apply solutions to overcome them, slowly, deliberately, and with sustainable results.
You can’t make dreams come true if you don’t have dreams
In my line of work, I’ve learned that major life changes have to start with vision. I help my clients identify their unique challenges but also envision what is possible for themselves so they have something to work toward. Then, I help them learn and integrate healthy habits, one step at a time, that will get them closer to that goal.
My goal isn’t to just throw exercises at you and let you go on your way. I want you instill in you the belief that on your own you have the power to make positive, healthy choices, one at a time. Choices that you can stick to and that will transform your life for the better as you keep pushing forward.
The process is slow. It requires some sacrifice. There will be setbacks. But I am confident that if you take small steps and allow yourself to be held accountable and open to learning and changing, you will get to wherever you want to be.
Though you have to do all the work yourself, you are not alone. I’m dedicated to helping you find the path that works best for you to get the results you want. I know what it takes to empower overweight people to take the small steps necessary on the path to losing weight and then keeping it off.
Let’s talk about how you can find that phoenix within and set it to flight. Contact me today to share your story and learn how we can help you reach your personal health goals.
